Reminder
We couldn't offer several of the supports and services we have for students and families without community involvement. Today, we were extremely lucky to receive a check from I-35 PTO for $2700 from money brought in by the Change Wars in the elementary to be used for the I-35 Backpack Program as well as a check for $1200 from St. Charles Old Settlers to be use for the I-35 Student Services fund. A huge shout out to the community for your support!

We can’t think of a better way to show appreciation on Valentine’s Day than students helping others. Juniors and Seniors were able to volunteer today at Central Iowa Shelter and Services in either the kitchen or greenhouse providing/serving a meal to others. It was a great experience and hopefully one that was meaningful to our students.
8th grader science students are studying change over time and are using comparative anatomy to explore species relationships. Soon we will compare frogs, fish, clams, sea stars, grasshoppers, worms, and crayfish.
The 1st graders continue to dominate the contest to return monthly Book It! calendars. Congratulations to Mrs. Krull's Class, our December winner, and Mrs. Lyon's Class, our January winner. Thanks, again, to our amazing PTO, for funding our treats!

Congratulations to Grace Knedler and Michael McClelland for being accepted into and performing with the Cyclone Honor Band! Around 500 students were nominated and less than half were selected to represent their schools and perform in a concert in Stephens Auditorium located on the Iowa State Campus in Ames. They performed six challenging pieces of music in an hour-long concert after only two days of rehearsals! It was a fantastic event with amazing educators. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Coleman for waking up early to get Mr. McKinney to the school Friday morning (he had car troubles).
