Again this year we are creating some activities to highlight Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Awareness and support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Here at I-35 alone, we have 4 students and 3 staff that live with the struggles of this disease, along with their families, friends and peers that are affected by the concerns of this disease. Our Diabetes Awareness week will take place April 24th - 28th. In order to create a successful campaign, we have several activities lined up for all students (PK-12) to take part in. These awareness activities are outlined below:
JDRF T-Shirts: Students, staff and community have the opportunity to purchase a JDRF shirt through Jones Creek Apparel. https://jonescreekapparel.com/... (We are ordering these now so they are here in time for the walk).
The week of April 24 we will be selling JDRF paper sneakers. Look for more information as we get closer. Our goal is to sell enough sneakers ($1 each) to make a line of sneakers around the entire school.
School Walk for Awareness: On Tuesday, April 25th all PK-12 students will walk around the track to promote awareness for JDRF. Rufus the Bear (JDRF mascot) will be making an appearance!
We look forward to raising awareness for a fantastic cause! Thank you for your time and consideration. All proceeds will be given to the JDRF organization. Any questions or concerns, please contact Brandi Ransom at bransom@i-35.k12.ia.us or 641-765-4901.
Go Roadrunners!
