I-35 7th graders are in the middle of their epidemic unit in ELA. They have used text evidence to support the habits of characters the epidemiologists have in order to fight the diseases and help citizens around them. For the past week they have been studying Typhoid. The students are using evidence from the book to argue whether or not Mary Mallon “Typhoid Mary” was a victim of an unjust society or was a villain who knew she was spreading Typhoid wherever she went. There have been great conversation to support both sides of this argument!

High School Seniors were invited to sign up for a Day of Kindness. Those seniors who signed up went to Madison Square Assisted Living and Memory Care today in Winterset. Students offered craft activities, decorated sugar cookies, played cards and bingo before wrapping up the morning eating lunch with the residents. Residents were good sports and even wore the heart sunglasses we brought them. It was a wonderful experience and several residents commented how happy they were to have our students there. It was a great example of Roadrunner Pride!
